2-Foot Alligator Found In Md. Yard
SYKESVILLE, Md. (AP) -- A 2-foot long American alligator has been found in a backyard in Sykesville.
The reptile was found Saturday snapping at the family dog. A relative tells The Carroll County Times that the family turned to social media to figure out what to do.
As recommended, the family contacted Frisky's Wildlife and Primate Sanctuary in Howard County, which rehabilitates wild animals. Frisky's handlers picked the animal up on Monday. Colleen Layton, founder and manager of Frisky's, said the alligator will be rehabilitated and then moved to a rescue program.
Nicky Ratliff, executive director of the Carroll County Humane Society, says exotic animals such as alligators are banned in Maryland.
