It was a bold crime that has shaken up patients and has police aggressively looking for the robber.
Baltimore City police say a brazen crime took place at Mercy Medical Center on Tuesday. Police say around 1 p.m., a suspect robbed two women at gunpoint on the third floor of the downtown hospital.
"We believe that we have two victims. It's important to note that from the scene, there were no reported injuries, so we believe that they were just robbed. The suspect did have a handgun with him that he displayed during the incident," said Detective Jeremy Silbert, Baltimore City police.
The robber fled and police were called to the scene. The suspect is described as a man 5'10" weighing about 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark jacket and dark pants.
Surveillance pictures were released from Mercy's security cameras.
"It's terrifying. It's really terrifying," said patient Meghan Lamason.
A woman who plans to deliver her baby at Mercy Medical Center and was at the hospital Tuesday night says no one told her anything about the crime.
"It bothers me a lot because even if I didn't see you now, I'm gonna go home and see the news and I would have been even more angry," Lamason said.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call police.
