2 D.C. Men Sentenced In Kidnapping Plot
GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- Two District of Columbia men have been sentenced to decades in prison for attempting to kidnap a bank employee from her home.
Prosecutors say Jeffery Edelen, 42, was sentenced to 30 years in prison in federal court in Greenbelt on Monday. Kendall Taylor, 40, was sentenced to 35 years. Edelen and Taylor were each convicted of conspiracy to commit a kidnapping.
Authorities say trial testimony showed that Edelen and Taylor broke into the woman's Prince George's County home in January 2011, held the woman and her child at gunpoint and bound the child.
According to trial testimony, Edelen and Taylor planned to take the woman to the bank she worked at and force her to obtain money.
However, the child called a relative who called police.
