2 Charges Dropped Against Garrett College Student Accused In Stabbings

MCHENRY, Md. (AP) -- Prosecutors have dropped a charge of attempted first-degree murder against a woman accused of stabbing two classmates in the cafeteria of their western Maryland community college.

Garrett County State's Attorney Lisa Thayer Welch tells The Times-News of Cumberland (http://bit.ly/1M2hTDo ) that the evidence does not support the charge against 19-year-old Shamaine Moore of Baltimore.

Moore is accused of stabbing fellow freshmen 20-year-old Daniqua Harrington of Washington, D.C., and 18-year-old Chandel Alexander of Baltimore on Jan. 29.

Authorities say the incident occurred during an argument in the cafeteria of Garrett College in McHenry.

Moore is charged with attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and other offenses.
