2-Alarm Fire In Towson Evacuates Apartments
TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- A two-alarm fire at a Towson apartment complex led to an evacuation overnight.
Baltimore County firefighters were called to the Virginia Towers apartment complex late Sunday night when residents found smoke in the hallways. Officials say a fire was then found in a trash compactor, and smoke extended to several floors.
Firefighters contained the fire in the trash compactor. But more fire personnel were called in to evacuate residents.
About 20 residents were evacuated from the building and were given shelter on buses. The residents were allowed to return to their homes shortly after 1:15 a.m. Monday.
No injuries were reported in the incident. An investigation on the cause of the fire continues.
