17-Year-Old From Harford County Dies In Pa.
BEL AIR, Md. (WJZ)-- Tragedy for a Harford County family. A 17-year-old falls to his death during a trip to the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania.
Adam May talks to his family about unique plans to honor the teen.
Harford County is coming together to remember a teenager who died during a freak hiking accident.
Lincoln High, 17, was a recent graduate of Harford Technical High School. Saturday, he was hiking at Bushkill Falls in the Poconos when he lost his footing and fell to his death.
"He was very adventurous, tried new things," said Lincoln High's father, Howard High.
Even though Lincoln and his family just moved to Maryland a year ago, the outgoing teen made many friends fast.
"He just exerted the love of Christ to everybody," Lincoln High's sister, Kat High, said. "Open-hearted, always said 'Hi' to everyone. He was so friendly."
Lincoln High was also trained in the martial arts and was in the process of joining the Army.
May: "Did that make you proud? He wanted to serve his country."
Howard High: "Yes, very much so. He wanted to do his part."
"You can't ask for more of a nice guy," said Drew Buchness, Lincoln High's boss at T.G.I. Friday's in Bel Air.
After the army, Lincoln High wanted to become a chef. Next week, the restaurant chain is throwing him an 18th birthday party.
"His friends and family are coming to any Friday's, to celebrate his life, everything he was about," Buchness said. "He loved working here and we loved having him here."
Hundreds plan to attend.
"Not so much crying, just celebrating Lincoln's life, just the way he would like it," Kat High said.
That special event at Friday's will be next Wednesday at 6 p.m.
High's visitation and funeral will be on Friday and Saturday at Mountain Christian Church in Joppa.
