2 Teens Arrested For Vandalism, Theft In Carroll County
ELDERSBURG, Md. (WJZ)—Homes, streets and cars are damaged in Carroll County. Police say some teenagers went on an expensive vandalism spree.
Adam May reports those teens are now under arrest.
Residents of a quiet Eldersburg neighborhood woke up to $10,000 in damage from overnight vandals.
"Came out to check my vehicles, and the sidewalk of course was spray painted. My car and nephew's car were tarred at the door joints from the top to the bottom," said James Mailhot.
Police arrested a 15 and 16-year-old on charges of property destruction and theft.
"My husband's car got the tar, and my rental minivan got the spray with some very choice words, and he got to drive that to the U.S. Open today," Melissa Frick said with a chuckle. "He was quite proud."
A vandalized van is covered in swear words and graffiti of male anatomy.
"Oh my gosh," said Taylor Frick, shocked by the vandalism.
Young kids were stunned.
"Nothing really happened bad in this neighborhood before," one of them said.
A total of 15 impacted families are stuck cleaning up and answering questions.
"I'm gonna have to explain to Enterprise why these words [are] on the minivan when I return it to them," said Melissa Frick.
The teens were also arrested on a minor drug charge. Police recovered $300 in stolen property.
