13-Year-Old Charged With Bringing BB Gun & Knife On Bus; 1 Student Struck
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- Anne Arundel County Police are investigating after a boy was struck in the leg with a BB bullet.
It happened Wednesday morning at a bus stop.
A parent called MacArthur Middle School and spoke with an assistant principal about seeing a 13-year-old student with what appeared to be a BB gun in the waistband of the student's pants.
School administrators greeted the bus when it arrived at school and contacted both Anne Arundel County Police and their Office of School Security.
All students were immediately removed from the bus and several male students were brought inside for interviews. During the investigation, a 13-year-old was identified as having both the gun and a large knife with a blade of approximately seven inches.
The investigation determined the suspect discharged the BB gun while at the bus stop, striking another 13-year-old male student in the leg. This reportedly happened before the witness saw the student with the BB gun. The victim's injury did not require medical treatment.
The suspect is from Laurel and was charged on a juvenile citation with possessing a dangerous weapon on school property, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment. He was later released to a guardian.
