8,700 Without Power In Western Maryland
FROSTBURG (AP) -- A Potomac Edison spokesman says it could be Wednesday before power is restored to all customers in western Maryland affected by this weekend's winter storm.
Potomac Edison says about 8,700 were still without power about 6 p.m. Sunday. Spokesman Todd Meyers says Washington County was hardest hit and that is where restoration was expected to take the longest. Meyers says power has been restored to more than 43,000 customers in Maryland so far.
Meyers says most outages are due to tree limbs, and in some cases entire trees, being brought down by the storm.
In central Maryland, Baltimore Gas and Electric and Pepco each reported fewer than 20 customers without power at 6 p.m. Sunday. The storm knocked out power to more than 3 million throughout the Northeast.
