$1M Powerball Winner In Howard County
COLUMBIA, Md. (WJZ) --Overnight, a Marylander became one-million dollars richer.
Jessica Kartalija has more on the big winnings.
Two $1-million dollar Powerball tickets were purchased here in Maryland earlier this month.
Another big payday, a lucky second-tier winner of Wednesday night's Powerball drawing bought their million-dollar ticket in Howard County.
The winning ticket came from right here at Richburn Discount Liquors, in Columbia where store owners get the a few thousand dollars of their own!
"It's awesome. I'm not exactly sure what we are going to do with it, but I'm sure it's going to be great," said Phillip Cooper.
Jessica: "What if you are holding another winning ticket in your hand?"
"I'm going to the airport," one man said.
It's the fifth time a winning million-dollar ticket has been sold here in Maryland already this year! The last time, the jackpot reached more than $560-million.
"There are so many prizes on a Powerball ticket starting at $4 and going all the way up to the jackpot and then the second tier of one million dollars. Check those tickets," said Erica Palmisano, Maryland Lottery.
Players in Florida and New York also matched five of the six winning numbers in the drawing to get the million dollar prize.
Jessica: "So what'd you win?
"40 dollars."
Jessica: "What are you going to do with it?"
"Play again."
Jessica: "You're not going to the airport?"
"Nah. maybe next time. maybe next time."
No one won the Powerball jackpot-- which now rolls to $80-million for this Saturday's drawing.
The winner has 182 days to claim the prize at lottery headquarters.
