1 Hospitalized After Fire Tears Through Baltimore Apartments
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- It is believed that a gas explosion in the basement of a North Baltimore apartment complex is what started a fire that injured one person and made several more homeless Monday night.
Members of the Baltimore City Fire Department responded to 545 Wyanoke Avenue around 10:30 p.m.
Mike Schuh reports the residents will not soon forget Quadasha Andrews, the woman who alerted her neighbors the fire was spreading and tried to make sure everyone got out OK.
Firefighters only had to rescue one person, a man in his 40s, before the structure collapsed onto the bottom floor.
That man was hospitalized and is listed in serious but stable condition. No one else was hurt.
Many families have been displaced by the blaze, but officials don't have an exact count.
