1 Dead, Several Others Hurt After Multi-Car Crash In West Baltimore
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- One person is dead and several others are seriously injured after a traumatic accident in West Baltimore.
Rochelle Ritchie has details on how the accident happened.
One woman remains in the hospital in critical condition, as the investigation continues.
A horrific car crash in West Baltimore injures several people and kills another.
"The cause of the accident is still under investigation. But what we know is the male who was deceased, he was in the vehicle that was struck by another vehicle," said Det. Brandon Echevarria, Baltimore City Police.
The man who died was identified as Tevin Hall, 26.
The crash was so violent Nat Williams said it shook his building.
"I came to the door and I saw all the carnage that was over there," Williams said.
Baltimore City Police say a green Acura is responsible for the crash. Witnesses say it hit the gold sedan so hard it flipped over another car, shredding it apart. Three people were in the car, including a child.
"The female was taken to an area hospital in serious condition. Right now, she is undergoing surgery and she is listed in critical condition," Echevarria said.
Just moments after the accident, witnesses tell WJZ nearby neighbors rushed to pull the child to safety from the mangled car.
"Somebody said, 'There's a child in there,' then immediately went to work and pulled that door off. They pulled that door off to get that child out of there," Williams said.
The speed limit on Fulton Avenue is 35 mph, but one witness says the car he believes is responsible was going more than 80 mph.
Police have not said if speed was a factor in the crash, but Williams says it is a serious issue on Fulton Avenue.
"I don't know why they don't put any speed cameras around here," he said.
The 2-year-old girl who was taken to the hospital in serious condition. The child is currently listed in guarded condition with injuries to her head.
Six people were taken to the hospital for treatment.
