1.8M Marylanders Expected To Travel During Holiday
TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- AAA Mid-Atlantic says 1.8 million Maryland residents will travel at least 50 miles away from home during the Christmas-New Year's Holiday.
AAA spokeswoman Ragina Averella says that's a 3.6 percent increase over last year.
About 1.7 million people will travel by car, despite an 18 cent increase in the cost of gasoline over the past month.
Approximately 49,000 Marylanders will fly to their destination; rail, bus and watercraft will account for about 65,000 travelers.
