NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The North Texas weather will be wet, cold and windy today! So far, we've already seen close to one-inch of rainfall.
The rain will linger off and on throughout the rest of the day and add to already increased totals. There has been more rainfall in the past three days than we have seen the entire year.
Of the three weather conditions mentioned previously the wind will be the most extreme. It's going to be very windy today… in fact, it will be the windiest day since late December. Expect wind gusts out of the north will reach close to 40 mph at times.
A Wind Advisory starts at noon Tuesday and goes through 4 a.m. Wednesday. Residents are advised to tie down any loose objects outside their residence and be careful driving high-profile vehicles, such as big trucks or SUVs.
The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, reports the storms have already caused some wind damage in south Texas.
The high winds will also make it feel even colder today. The temperature will actually be dropping throughout the day, going from near 50-degrees in the morning to near 40-degrees by late afternoon. Unfortunately, when you factor in the strong wind, it's going to feel like the temperatures are in the 30's all day.
Now, you may have heard the CBS 11 Storm Team talk about snow. There is a very small chance that a few snowflakes could mix in with rain later this evening. The opportunity for this will be when a strong upper-level low moves overhead.
While it may be cold enough for a little snow, the temperatures on the ground will be safely above 32-degrees. This means that even if we a flake or two, it will not stick... at all... nada.
