WWII Soldier's Lost Dog Tag Being Given To Texas Relatives

VICTORIA (AP) — A long-lost dog tag belonging to an American soldier killed in World War II will soon reach his family in Texas.
Members of a Japanese group that searches Pacific islands for the remains of missing soldiers plan to deliver the identification tag to relatives of Pfc. Thomas Davis, of Roachdale, Indiana.
The soldier has family in Victoria, Texas, including a namesake nephew who on Wednesday said the handover would be March 28.
The tag was found in 2014 on Saipan, where Davis served in 1944 with the Army's 27th Division, a former New York National Guard unit. Davis was killed on Okinawa in 1945.
The Davis family recently learned from The Associated Press that a cultural historian had located the dog tag.
