GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Grand Prairie have made an arrest in the case of a woman stabbed to death on Tuesday night in what police call a family violence case.

Mark Silva, 33, was taken into custody and is being held on a $500,000 bond for murder in the Maverick County Sheriff's Detention Facility.

The stabbing happened around 7:00 p.m. in a shopping center parking lot located in the 3000 block of South Carrier Parkway.

Detectives think that the attack happened inside of a car, and that the victim knew her killer. Afterward, the woman managed to stumble to the RNS Final Stop convenience store across the street, seeking help. She had suffered stab wounds to her neck and upper torso.

An employee at the convenience store said that the car had been parked across the street for a while before the attack, before it moved to a nearby mailbox. That is where the stabbing is thought to have taken place. The man at the store's register tried to save the woman's life.

"She came running inside the store. She was all bleeding from her neck, and that's all I remember," recalled convenience store employee Sarwesh Chand. "The only thing I heard her saying was 'help' -- that's it. The only thing I did was call 911, and they instructed us to hold it by the cut she had on the neck to stop the bleeding."

The victim has only been identified as a Hispanic female between 30 and 40 years old. She was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
