Will DeMarco's Roller Coaster End Back With Cowboys?

IRVING (105.3 THE FAN) -- After Tuesday's late-night post-Mavs-game private meeting between DeMarco Murray and Jason Garrett, the possibility of the NFL's leading rusher returning to the Cowboys seems as likely as ever.

But it's not just because coach Garrett may have smoothed the ruffled feathers of Murray, who likely feels disrespected by Dallas for it's "non-negotiating'' negotiations; DeMarco-to-Dallas remains a possibility also because his other suitors are turning elsewhere.

And maybe DeMarco should feel disrespected by them, too.

The Raiders? Maybe they're interested, though they just added Roy Helu to play behind starter Latavius Murray.

The Eagles? Maybe they're interested, though they tried to sign Frank Gore before ever talking to Murray and now they are meeting with Ryan Mathews.

The Jaguars? They were supposed to be having dinner on Tuesday with DeMarco at the very time he was attending the Mavs game with ex-Cowboys teammate Miles Austin.

Jacksonville could still "money-whip'' Murray by giving him the $9-million-a-year contract he seeks. That would be one plan. But Dallas' plan has always been for Murray to "shop-and-drop'' -- shop his services and maybe, just maybe, "drop'' back to the Cowboys at an affordable price nearer $6 mil or less rather than $9 mil.

It's been a roller-coaster ride for DeMarco and Cowboys fans in these early days of free agency. But know that lots of times, the roller-coaster lets you off right at the very same point where you first buckled up.
