FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Expect more orange barrels, detours and major closures to impact traffic this weekend along Interstate-35W in north Fort Worth, as crews continue work on the much-anticipated North Tarrant Express project.

Anyone who must regularly travel through this area already knows about the construction headaches. But drivers are going to need even more patience this weekend.

Starting at 9:00 p.m. on Friday night, the off-ramp from northbound Interstate-35W to Pharr Street will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to the next exit at Northside Drive and Yucca Avenue. Also, the direct connector from westbound Highway 121 to southbound Interstate-35W will be closed, with traffic there being redirected to Carver Avenue.

These closures will last until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.

But it does not end there. Starting at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday night, all lanes of eastbound North Loop 820 at Interstate-35W will be closed, as will the direct connectors from northbound and southbound Interstate-35W to eastbound North Loop 820. Look for both closures to detour drivers onto Meacham Boulevard.

This set of closures will last until 5:00 a.m. on Monday morning.

This is all part of the $1.4 billion North Tarrant Express project, which includes reconstructed main lanes and adding new toll lanes. This area was ranked eighth on the state's list of most congested roadways. Construction is expected to be completed by 2018.
