(CBSDFW.COM) - Nineteen weeks have passed since the Leukemia And Lymphoma Society humbled me with the selection to represent those fighting blood cancer, by competing at this year's Ironman World Championship.

Every single step was a chance to help fund the fight for a cure. And if counting steps is any indication, we're well on our way.

Since training began March 21, I've spent countless hours in the water. In the four months since the mission began, I swam 116,000 yards or 66 miles; spending 2,558 minutes in the pool.

Much of that time was spent thinking about those who inspire the mission, such as my honored hero Hamilton Grant. He has endured 3 and a half years on continuous chemotherapy. He's a leukemia warrior and survivor. Read his story here.

On the bike, the wheels have gone round and round 1,295 miles since March -- 4,500 minutes. Giving me plenty of time to think about the life saving bone marrow transplant Will Jeffers received from his sister. Read his story here.

And some of the hardest days are spent on the run -- 538 miles to be exact since March 3. A total of 164 minutes, giving me more time to be inspired by Maria Perez who continues chemo as she heads off to Harvard this fall on a full scholarship. Read her story here.

Time to reflect, on Roger Lemieux who was diagnosed in November 2015… gone 106 days later. Read his story here.

I have 9 weeks to go in this fight, to support those in the fight for their lives.

I'm humbled to share with you, that your generosity to LLS and this mission, has so far, raised almost $84,000– just $1,000 shy of our goal of $85,000. Thank you!
