The CBS 11 Storm Team has issued a Weather Alert Day due to the scattered/widespread severe weather potential this afternoon and evening. Here is a look at the radar from earlier this morning. Scattered showers continue for the northeast and will become more widespread throughout the day.

There is an enhanced risk of severe weather today -- with the biggest threats being large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.

The thunderstorms will start to develop across parts of the Metroplex between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. They will track east/northeast throughout the remainder of the afternoon and eventually clear out tonight.

A few lingering showers can't be ruled out tonight and Saturday morning. But sunshine is expected after that and through the remainder of the weekend.
