Crews working to repair water main breaks in Dallas, Fort Worth

Repairs continue on water main breaks in Dallas and Fort Worth

NORTH TEXAS – If you're heading back to work Tuesday, there are two water main breaks that could impact your commute.

In Dallas, a water main break on the service road of Woodall Rodgers Freeway next to Klyde Warren Park is quickly turning into ice.

Woodall Rodgers Freeway westbound is closed as emergency crews work to contain the break. The right and center lanes will be closed, police say, then repairs will begin when water drains down.

Dallas police say no businesses or residents have been impacted by the break. Water service is estimated to be restored in six to eight hours while traffic lanes could reopen in 10 to 12 hours.

As temps continue to hover below freezing, the water will continue to ice over.

In Fort Worth, another water main break is spilling on Felix Street near I-35W. That water is freezing over.

The City of Fort Worth says the water mains break when water reaches 42 degrees – not even below freezing.

Across Fort Worth, there are 14 water main breaks that crews are responding to as of 5:30 a.m.
