Water leak closes five floors of the George Allen Courts Building in Downtown Dallas

CBS News Texas

DALLAS – Parts of the George Allen Courts Building in Downtown Dallas are back open Wednesday after a "significant" water leak closed the building on Tuesday.

Floors 2 through 6 will remain closed for the rest of the week, according to Dallas County. More than two dozen courts are impacted by the closures, including Dallas County civil district courts, county courts at law and the Texas Court of Appeals.

The county clerk, district clerk and passport office are among the other services housed in the George Allen Courts building; they are back open on Wednesday because they are located on the first floor.

For members of the public, the entrance on Jackson Street is the only one that will be open for the rest of the week.

Anyone with a hearing that is impacted by the closure should contact their assigned court for rescheduling.
