ARLINGTON (105.3 The Fan) - Rangers rookie outfielder Nomar Mazara hit a towering home run in the bottom of the second inning of the Rangers and Angels game at Globe Life Park.

With Texas down 4-1 already, Mazara sent a moonshot solo home run off of Hector Santiago to about the 15th row of the upper home run porch seats in right field.

The ball traveled an estimated 491 feet according to Statcast, making it the longest home run of the season. Giancarlo Stanton held the previous record with a 475-foot home run a few weeks back. It's also the third longest home run overall since Statcast was put in place last season.

Mazara may have also hit the longest home run in Globe Life Park history, but according to Jared Sandler via Rangers public relations man John Blake, there's no way to know if it was or not.
