Wanted Man Arrested After High Speed Chase

GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) - Garland Police have arrested a man they say led officers on a high-speed chase Friday.

Jose Pena was wanted in for a probation violation and possession of a controlled substance along with a felony warrant.

When officers went to arrest Pena in Rowlett around 12:30 p.m. they say Pena took off.  The chase ended shortly after 3:00 p.m. in a driveway in the 500 block of Muirfield in Garland.

That's when Pena allegedly ran inside a home while the homeowners were doing yard work and hid in a closet until police found him.

Police say when investigators searched Pena's car, they found methamphetamine, marijuana and a handgun.

Pena has been charged with Evading in a Vehicle, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Trespass of a Habitation in addition to the other warrants.

No one was hurt during the chase which reached 100 miles per hour.
