Waking up winners: Texas Rangers fans haven't felt this good in a long time
The beauty of sports is that it reminds us a comeback is possible.
That when the lights are on, the crowd is loud, and a series is on the line that someone will rise up.
It's the stuff you dream about as a kid. It's the 7-year-old calling the game from his front yard as he swings an imaginary bat, drops it, and watches the ball fly. He sees himself as Adolis Garcia. The slow trot around the bases. The smile that marks triumph. The MVP.
That's the beauty of sports, it allows us to dream. Just two years ago, the Texas Rangers lost 100 games. No one saw us coming.
Monday night, the team was unrelenting, setting the tone in the first inning with three runs. The look on the face of Astros starting pitcher, Cristian Javier, said it all. Defeat was coming. When the game ended, the Rangers had 11 runs on the board and a victory in the books.
We've been waiting.
We cheered on the losing seasons.
We roared when they began to win again.
That's the beauty of sports, it always brings back.
