Volunteer Group Joins Search For Missing Fort Worth Woman
PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) -- A volunteer group has joined the search for a missing Fort Worth woman who disappeared from The Shops at Legacy in Plano on Aug. 30.
Christina Morris, 23, was last seen walking into a parking lot to her car with a friend shortly before 4:00 a.m. Investigators say she and her friend went different directions, but Morris' car never left the parking lot.
Houston-based Texas Equusearch, a volunteer search and rescue organization dedicated to searching for missing persons, will join the search on Tuesday. At 9 a.m., volunteers will disperse in Plano looking for Morris.
Texas Equusearch has been involved in some high-profile cases, including the search for Alabama teenager Natalie Holloway and Florida toddler Caylee Anthony. The group will use ATVs and a drone to help find Christina.
The group is meeting at Legacy Church in Plano, which will serve as the group's command center.
Morris' mother, Jonni McElroy, has been strong for the 10 days her daughter has been missing, but this morning she had a moment when the tears started to flow.
"When I get up every morning, I get on my knees and pray in the morning. Sometimes 15 minutes. Sometimes 20. That's my time I cry and I get it all out. So I can be strong the rest of the day," said Jonni McElroy.
McElroy says Morris' boyfriend is helping to search and will be talking to the media Tuesday afternoon.
McElroy says the couple had an argument before her disappearance, but police say he has been cooperative with the investigation.
Crimestoppers is now offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
Morris is a graduate of Allen High School.
