Video Prompts Suspension Of Two College Police Officers

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Some might call it shocking behavior from campus police – caught on camera.
Two El Centro College officers have been placed on leave after a video captured their interaction with four young men.
The person who shot it says he didn't like what he was seeing and that the officers overreacted.
"You can say whatever you want. I saw it with my own eyes," said Charles Adams, who shot the video. "That's why I needed it to be on video. You can't lie about a video."
College officials say the images have raised concerns for them too.
Last Wednesday, the four young men, presumably teenagers, were ordered to face the brick wall of the college, while one of the two El Centro cops searched, questioned, and in one case hit the teens. The school won't say why the teens were stopped and frisked. Adams called it police overreach.
"She kept calling it my school, my campus. I think for this officer it was about control, and instead of asking the kids. "This should've never happened," said Adams.
El Centro College President Jose Adames viewed the video also and says the college is committed to a full investigation. The two officers involved received notices that place them on leave for now.
'In this case we decided to do a thorough investigation, and place two officers on leave because of the interactions we saw in the video," said Adames.
The officers filed a report on the incident, but college officials have declined to release that report, based on recommendation from the Attorney General's Office.
