WASHINGTON (AP) - Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland is returning to Capitol Hill as part of a Democratic effort to push for a vote on his nomination.

Vice President Joe Biden will also be on the Hill Thursday to help turn up the pressure on Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell.

McConnell has shown no signs of wavering from his position to let the next president choose the replacement for Justice Antonin Scalia, who died in February.

It will be Garland's first visit to Capitol Hill since he held dozens of individual meetings with senators in the Spring.

Garland will meet with the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Vermont Sen. Patrick Leahy.
