Veteran Defenseman Trevor Daley Previews Stars Playoffs

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- Only one player remains from the 2007-08 Dallas Stars, the last club to qualify for the NHL postseason -- defenseman Trevor Daley.

Daley joined New School with Shan & RJ on 105.3 The Fan to preview Wednesday night's opening game against the Anaheim Ducks.

While the Stars are a young team, Daley believes the team has gained valuable experience over the past few weeks in qualifying for the 8th and final postseason spot -- which they secured in game 81.

"The good thing about the road we've had to take is, we've been playing playoff hockey for the last month just trying to get into the playoffs," said Daley. "There's been so many games that we've had to play where, if you win you're in; if you lose, you're out."

While the Stars face an uphill battle -- starting on the road against the Western Conference's top seed -- the players can be confident, having beaten Anaheim in two of three games this season.

But does that really matter?

"It's obviously a different type of game you play out there when the playoffs start with so much on the line," said Daley. "We don't expect to carry that 2-1 against the Ducks into the playoffs. We expect it's going to be 0-0 for them -- for us. We just want to come out and try to get a good start and see what happens."

Game 2 is on Friday night in Anaheim. Dallas then returns home to face the Ducks on Monday and Wednesday at the American Airlines Center. If necessary, game 6 would also be played in Dallas on Sunday, April 27.
