AUSTIN (KRLD-AM) - University of Texas System Chancellor Bill McRaven took aim on Donald Trump as he welcomed some of UT-Austin's international students.

Chancellor McRaven minced no words when addressing the new Spanish and Mexican students at a ceremony at the State Capitol.

"I have been very frustrated…very angry at times with some of the political narrative that has gone on during this campaign season," said McRaven.

Without naming Trump, McRaven was specifically referring to his comments about the types of Mexicans coming to Texas.

"What we understand here is that the quality of talent, the young citizens, the students, the people that are coming over from Mexico are bright…they are hard-working …they are making us better Americans."

As for Chancellor McRaven's take on Trump's promise to build a border wall between Texas and Mexico he said, "we need to build bridges wherever we can…(applause)…and frankly anybody that thinks differently is not welcome at the University of Texas system."

Chancellor McRaven and UT Austin President Greg Fenves were among the featured speakers at the 15th annual State Capitol reception to honor students from Mexico & Spain.
