The U.S. Department of Agriculture says 37 counties in Arkansas and 10 in five neighboring states are eligible for disaster aid if they lost crops to rain and flooding between Nov. 1 and Jan. 12.

A news release says two Louisiana parishes and two counties each in Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas are eligible.

Thirteen Arkansas counties are primary disaster areas. Those are Cleburne, Faulkner, Perry, Stone, Conway, Izard, Pope, Woodruff, Crittenden, Miller, Sebastian, Yell and Cross. Twenty-four counties and those in neighboring states, are eligible because they're next to the primary disaster areas.

Farmers have eight months from March 2 to apply for loans to help cover part of their losses.
