UFC's Cerrone And Miller Meet In Anticipated Title Contender Thriller
LAS VEGAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- Once in awhile, I wish that a Las Vegas casino would offer odds on a proposition bet that a particular UFC match up will be guaranteed to thrill. I would've wagered it (and won) on last month's Cub Swanson/Jeremy Stephens fight, and I would double down on Wednesday's UFC Fight Night 45 main event (FOX Sports 1, 8:00 pm central).
Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone (#6 ranked lightweight) takes on Jim Miller (#7 ranked lightweight) in a fight that has title shot implications and a ton of anticipation for fireworks behind it.
I talked with both Donald Cerrone and Jim Miller this week about their highly anticipated fight:

Cerrone is so accustomed to collecting company bonuses for outstanding performances (most ever in UFC/WEC combined history with 14), the phrase "win bonus" is incorporated onto his signature t-shirt. He is one of the most prolific fighters in The UFC as well, taking this fight as his 6th in just over 13 months. He has a well-rounded game with a devastating muay thai striking style, and he's on a three fight winning streak. With a finish of Miller, he will become the all-time leading finisher in the combined history of The UFC and WEC's lightweight divisions.
Jim Miller is a prolific submission specialist on a three fight/one no contest win streak of his own, with two of those wins coming via submission. He'll look to take Cerrone to the ground, but that may prove to be a stiff challenge, as Cerrone has the second best takedown defense percentage in UFC lightweight history.
The winner will certainly find themselves ranked among the top five in the division, and likely slated for a date with undefeated #4 ranked Khabib Nurmagomedov in a fight that will likely determine an opponent for the winner of the Anthony Pettis/Gilbert Melendez lightweight title match that will take place later in the year.
Cerrone will be a slight favorite going into the fight, but the lock bet is that this match up makes for a fight of the year candidate.
