NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The organization Mothers Against Drunk Driving is joining with Uber to try and stop people from getting behind the wheel drunk this July 4th weekend.
MADD and Uber are asking people to pledge not to drink and drive. In addition to getting drivers to leave their keys at home, Uber is also matching all donations made through the campaign during the Independence Day holiday weekend, up to $25,000.
Uber says they're working with MADD to "keep streets and cities safe."
MADD National President Colleen Sheehey said, "We are proud to work with Uber on this important awareness campaign to highlight the dangers of drunk driving and to remind individuals nationwide to always designate a non-drinking driver."
Experts say the 4th of July is the deadliest day of the year on American roadways, and this year could be record-breaking since the holiday falls on a Saturday.
