MESQUITE(CBSDFW.COM) - A pair of Mesquite ISD schools were on lockdown Monday afternoon.

The school district lifted the lockdowns of Wilkinson Middle and Tisinger Elementary at 3pm.

The lockdowns were a safety precaution as there was police activity in the surrounding neighborhood.

Mesquite police say officers tried to make a traffic stop on a known felony fraud suspect out of Unversity Park around 1:45pm Monday afternoon. He lead them on a short car chase then bailed out on Ridgeview Street and ran into the neighborhoods near the schools.

Police have yet to find the suspect and are still patrolling the area.  The perimeter for where the suspect was believed to be was far enough away for the school district to release the students from the two schools.
