Two Accused Of Illegal Dentistry In Dallas, Patient Injured

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) – A man and woman living in North Texas have been accused of pretending to be dentists and leaving a woman severely hurt after yanking out several of her teeth.
Mario Sabillon-Mejia of Garland -- who federal authorities say is in the U.S. illegally -- was being held Thursday on charges of practicing medicine without a license, possession of dangerous drugs and alias warrants. Tiffany Gonzales, who allegedly assisted him, is facing similar charges.
A woman contacted Dallas police about a May house call in which she agreed to pay $1,500, the suspect injected her with an unknown substance and pulled several teeth. She later developed a serious infection.
Dallas County records don't list an attorney for Sabillon-Mejia, who was arrested Wednesday with bond at $105,000. Gonzales faces the same counts.
Police found a lot of dental equipment and a book with Sabillon-Mejia.
"We have a book with a lot of names in it and we want to hear from them, obviously anytime you practice without a license, you're going to cause people irreparable harm," said Lt. Tony Crawford of the Dallas Police Department.
Police say Sabillon-Mejia faked being a dentist from Honduras.
