Tropical Storm Milton named, could be Florida's 2nd major hurricane in 2 weeks
NORTH TEXAS – The National Hurricane Center named Tropical Storm Milton this afternoon. Unfortunately, this may become a historic event next week, marking the second major hurricane landfall in Florida within two weeks.
Hurricane Helene reached Category 4 status prior to landfall. Milton will have more time over the Gulf if the NHC's current track holds. Milton could potentially reach Category 4 status as well. The cone of uncertainty still ranges across most of the western-facing coast of Florida, but the centerline is currently near Tampa/St. Petersburg.
