COLLIN COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - Plano's landscape is changing! Toyota has already started construction on its new North American headquarters and Wednesday morning, the automaker gave the media and the public a sneak peak at the future layout.

Toyota has been working on the designs for its new headquarters with a Dallas-based company. The huge complex will have 7 buildings, each five stories tall and will sit on 100 acres. The campus is going up right along the Sam Rayburn Tollway and Legacy Drive.

The $350 million, "environmentally-sustainable" design includes the use of high energy efficient glass and Texas limestone.

With Toyota combining three separate North American headquarters for manufacturing, sales and marketing, and corporate operations in Plano, there will be some 4,000 jobs coming to the city.

Company employees in California will reportedly have the option to relocate to North Texas -- about 50 employees have already made the move.

Once Toyota has a better idea of how many employees will relocate, the company will then open up jobs to North Texans.

The official groundbreaking was in January and construction crews have been busy. The company says the new headquarters will be up and running in early 2017.

"This headquarters will be cutting edge," said Plano's Mayor Harry Larosiliere at the event.

He says he expects Toyota to bring about seven billion dollars over the next ten years to the city, including hotels, shopping and home sales.
