Tornadoes Hit North Texas Thursday Night

NORTH TEXAS(CBSDFW.COM) - CBS11 news crews spent much of Thursday night chasing storms and storm damage. Tornadoes were confirmed on the ground in Valley View, Runaway Bay and Rhome.

The Wise County Sheriff's Department reported injuries and home and property damage in the New Fair community near Rhome along FM 2264 and County Road 4421.

As of 9:50pm Thursday, there was flooding in the northern sections of Wise County.  Some flooding on Hwy 287 near Decatur, Hwy 101 near Chico, FM 1655 near Alvord and FM 2260 near Chico.

Power lines were down and some outbuildings were destroyed along FM 2264 in Rhome.  News crews say drivers pulling over to watch a tornado-producing storm approach Valley View.  Some folks there crowded into a gas station convenience store to take cover from the storm.

Folks in Boyd collected tennis ball-sized hail.

There were flash flood warnings for Wise County until 11:15pm Thursday and Jack County until 11:30pm Thursday.
