HASLET (KRLD) - Severe storms pelted the metroplex with hail Wednesday night and a tornado damaged a self-storage complex in Haslet.

"We found enough evidence of a fairly brief, very narrow EF-0 tornado," said Mark Fox, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Fort Worth. "Wind speeds were right there around 70-75 miles per hour.

"The width of it was only about 80 yards or so, and it was on the ground for between a half and three-quarters of a mile," says Fox.

While the tornado wasn't very big in size, it packed quite a punch; tearing off the roof of a couple buildings at Blue Mound Self Storage.

The twister mainly damaged the sides of the storage buildings with the open storage bays.

"That helped to take some of the metal roof off of that, twist it back towards the north and northwest," said Fox.
