AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM) – Convicted child molester, Michael Dewayne Cox, was arrested for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
On July 20, Coxs' wanted information and photographs were included on the Texas Department of Public Safety's "Top 10" sex offender list. Police arrested him after someone tipped them off.
"The citizens who called in this tip to deserve our sincerest gratitude for playing a role in ensuring this fugitive was captured and put behind bars. I also commend the efforts of our law enforcement who continue to diligently protect our communities from heinous criminals," said Attorney General Paxton.
In 1994, Cox was convicted of Aggravated Sexual Assault of Child in Dallas County and sentenced to 10 years in prison. On September 24, 2013, a Failure to Comply with Registration Requirements warrant was issued by the Polk County Sheriff's Office. On November 22, 2013, an OAG Fugitive Unit investigator was assigned the case for investigation.
The OAG works to protect children by taking child predators off the Internet and into jail, proactively seeking out and arresting predators who commit crimes against children using technology and the Internet.
The agency uses the latest technology to track down some of the most profoundly evil predators on the Internet.
