Tony Romo Named NFC Offensive Player Of Month For December

IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) -- Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for December, the league announced Wednesday.

Romo joins Troy Aikman as the only Dallas quarterback to win the award.

Romo's quarterback rating for the month -- 133.7 -- was the highest quarterback rating in NFL history for the month of December (min. 100 attempts). During December, he completed 74.8 percent of his passes with 12 touchdowns and one interception.

Dallas was 4-0 during the month and secured its first NFC East title since 2009.

This season, Romo led the league in passer rating (113.2) and completion percentage (69.9) -- both career highs.

He also led the NFL in yards per attempt (8.52).

This is Romo's fourth Player of the Month Award in his 10-year career.
