Fort Worth Toddler Dies After Shooting Himself In Head With Shotgun
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A toddler died on Wednesday night after somehow shooting himself in the head with a shotgun, authorities stated. Police and paramedics were called to the scene at about 9:45 p.m. in the 3900 block of Lawnwood Street in east Fort Worth.
When emergency responders arrived, they found the 3-year-old boy dead. He was later identified as Jonnie Colon.
Homicide detectives were also called to the scene. Investigators are working to determine whether the death was accidental or deliberate. According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner, the apartment complex where the shooting took place was not Colon's home. It is not clear why the boy was at this location.
The child's mother was also transported to the hospital after reporting chest pains. Her condition is not known.
