DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) – Denton Police responded to a 911 call about a dog attack on Sunday afternoon. Three boys were attacked by a Rottweiler mix when three dogs got out of the owner's fenced yard in the 8000 block of Montecito Drive.

An 11-year-old and a 13-year-old both suffered bite wounds to the back of their legs.  A 16-year-old male had a scratch from an attempted bite. The boys were treated by family members at the scene and refused medical treatment.

The dog was impounded by Denton Animal Services and will be quarantined for 10 days.  A hearing to determine if the animal is a dangerous dog may take place.  If at the hearing it is determined that the animal is a dangerous dog, the owner could turn it over to the shelter and the animal would be euthanized. Another option is for the owner to purchase a $100,000 liability insurance policy on the animal and build a structure ordered by the court to safeguard the dog from humans.
