Game Notes RANGERS 6 Giants 5

Hitters

*Nomar Mazara had another missile base hit and another RBI...his 7th in 14 AB.

*Ryan Rua added another hit to his recent rampage when he doubled down the left field line in the 9th inning. He also added a very nice outfield assist, cutting down a potential double on a ball in the gap.

*Joey Gallo might not have the sexiest stat line this Spring, but he's had some very competitive at bats.

Pitchers

*Derek Holland had a good outing after a laborious, but scoreless, first. He allowed two runs in three innings, though both runs were unearned after a Nomar Mazara two-out error in the third. He pounded the zone and looked sharp.

*Andrew Faulkner looked really sharp in his one inning of work. He's now delivered three scoreless innings allowing just one baserunner. He's my pick to earn one of the last bullpen spots.

*Jeremy Guthrie made his Rangers debut. He threw two innings of scoreless baseball. His first inning lasted just five pitches!

Stat of the Day

9 sacrifice flies for the Rangers through seven Cactus League games, the most in all of baseball this Spring. They had four today. Situational hitting was a big part of the team's 2015 success. They ranked t-3rd in sacrifice flies in 2015.

Quote of the Day

"They're fighting for the Big Sac trophy." - John Blake when discussing the Rangers pursuit for the "coveted" title of leading all teams in sac flies in Spring Training.

Housekeeping

Rougned Odor was scratched from today's game because of a "tweaked side." It is not believed to be serious at all. Odor wanted to play but he was not allowed to for precautionary reasons.
