Aikman: Cheating Took Place

Troy Aikman expounded on 'DeflateGate' this afternoon on his regular weekly segment with Mike Francesa on WFAN Radio in New York.

A few of the highlights:

"The issue is that there was cheating that took place if, in fact, this is what happened.  If air was taken out of the balls after they had been inspected, then there was a competitive advantage that took place."

Aikman compares DeflateGate with BountyGate:

"For Sean Payton to be suspended for a year when there was no competitive edge for them, and then to have Spygate, and now this potentially impact the integrity of competitive balance of a football game, to me that's just inherently wrong.  That is, to me, more severe than anything that the Saints did."

Aikman says he believes Bill Belichick, who says he has no knowledge of wrongdoing. However, without mentioning Tom Brady by name, he said this:

"There's nobody in the organization who cares about the condition of a football other than the quarterback.  I know that, when I played, there was nothing that occurred to the football without me having knowledge of it."
