The @CBSDFW Storm Team Blog: Losing Daylight, how fast we lose daylight thru the Fall

One thing about September we in North Texas long for is a strong cold front to break the summer heat.  We sometimes have to wait a few weeks into the month before we see that first strong front.  But what is noticeable this time of year is a decrease in daylight.

We lose about 2 minutes of daylight every day this time of year.  We still have more daylight than night, but the daylight time is shortening.

Here's a look at daylight today, Halloween and on Dec. 22.

The longest daylight of the year is the Summer Solstice on or around June 21 with 14 hours 20 minutes.

The shortest daylight of the year is the Winter Solstice on or around Dec. 22 with 9 hours 59 minutes of daylight.

FYI - Time change this year is on November 2nd.
