TexRail To Connect Fort Worth To DFW Airport

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Plans for a commuter rail connecting Fort Worth to DFW International Airport are gaining more steam. The Fort Worth Transportation Authority is expected to sign a contract on Monday that would move forward with construction on the project.
This is one of the biggest public transportation projects ever in Tarrant County.
The TexRail is a planned 27-mile passenger rail service that travels from downtown Fort Worth, through the Mid-Cities area and into Terminal B at DFW International Airport. There would be 10 stations along the route, including a big one in Grapevine. Other stops include Haltom City and North Richland Hills.
The contract includes eight rail cars to run on the track. The rail is expected to carry more than 10,000 passengers each day through its first year of service.
Construction could start as soon as next year. The TexRail is scheduled to launch in 2018. Afterward, there are plans to expand the service further southwest through Tarrant County.
