SAN ELIZARIO (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — A Texas woman accused of strangling her husband to death with an apron has been found guilty.

Sixty-one-year-old Martha Acevedo was convicted Wednesday of murder in the death of Jose Acevedo. Prosecutors say Acevedo killed her husband in September 2014 in their San Elizario home. Sheriffs were dispatched to the couple's home and found the victim unresponsive.

The sentencing phase of Acevedo's trial has begun and she faces a maximum sentence of 99 years in prison.

San Elizario is about 25 miles southeast of El Paso.

Just this week in North Texas, a 64-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly trying to hire someone to kill her husband. In a strange twist of fate, it was Jacquaeline Williams' sister who called authorities to report that her brother-in-laws life was in danger.
