Texas Red Cross Locations In Need Of Volunteers

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - With rain continuing across the state, the Red Cross is looking for more volunteers.
From flooding in Austin and Houston, to tornadoes in Van and Cisco, it's been a busy month for the Red Cross.
Regional Communications Manager Eric Maldonado says volunteer training sessions are being set up across the state and the process is easy. "If they go to the local website they will be able to start their application and hopefully they're able to sign up before the training begins on Saturday, but if they don't that's fine. We can also fill out the application on site."
Keep in mind the Red Cross is busy everyday supporting military families, collecting blood donations, offering health and safety courses and providing shelter, food, health and mental health services to families in need. The severe weather events across the state are stretching the current resources thin.
Maldonado explained, "We need to be able have as many volunteers ready, so that we can be able to serve the community in any type of need; whether it's for disaster response, for shelter or for food. The more volunteers that we have, the more people we're able to serve."
The Red Cross will accept all volunteers, no matter your skill sets. But organizers say they are especially in need of volunteers who are bilingual – namely Spanish.
