Texas Police Officer Humbled By Help After Twister Hits His Home

NORTH TEXAS (KRLD) - A Dallas police officer says he's humbled by the outpouring of support after his home was almost completely destroyed by storms and tornadoes this past weekend.
Sergeant James Bristo lives in the small town of Ovilla, in Ellis County not to far from Glenn Heights, and says he and his wife thought the worst had passed, so they were on their way to dinner. He says while in the vehicle they got a harrowing call from their neighbors.
"I heard Marcy say 'Are you guys okay?' and Cornelius say, 'Yes.' Then I heard her ask, 'How about our house,' and then I heard sobbing."
Bristo says what they saw when they got home was shocking. The roof was gone and almost the entire second floor of the house was ripped away. Luckily both their dogs survived.
Bristo says he sent out an email to his church group and within an hour, 50 people were on his lawn helping out. And that's not all... every police agency in Dallas, as well as officers from different cities, called to ask how they could help.
"I'm not one that asks for help. I'm the one that goes to help," Bristo said quietly. "I'm floored and incredibly blessed."
